Diet Popcorn

Great Flavor Without All The Calories!

Yes You Can Eat Popcorn on a Diet!

Diet popcorn just doesn’t seem possible does it? Popcorn is a carbohydrate, but you have to remember that your body needs carbs and proteins as well as a few essential amino acids found in corn oil.

Balance is key! So don’t be discouraged. You CAN eat popcorn and still loose weight.

Remember that fats and oils are flavor carriers and when there is no oil, popcorn can taste like two day old, dry toast. Also, even in this low oil, popcorn recipe, oil transfers heat from the pan to the kernels during heating. The oil ensures that the kernel is heated evenly and pops more completely.

Diet Popcorn Recipe

Add 1 tsp. vegetable or canola oil into a stovetop or electric popper along with 2 Tbs popcorn. Pop as usual.

When the popcorn is out, salt to taste. If you want butter flavoring, Molly McButter or Butter Buds butter flavored sprinkles will make all the difference. The trick is making the sprinkles stick to the popcorn.

This is where Pam cooking spray comes in. Give the popcorn a 2 second spraying of Pam and then sprinkle with the Molly McButter or Butter Buds. Stir and repeat if necessary and enjoy.

In this recipe there are only about 110 Calories in the popcorn and roughly 40 Calories in the oil. With all that fiber (7 grams), it comes out to a Weight Watchers 3 point snack that is flavorful and satisfying.

If you like this recipe, why not take it up a notch on the flavor scale?
